Belle Isle Styled Shoot

I wanted to kick this wedding season off with a bang and get some creative juices flowing! I'm a firm believer in you attract the work you create. So I grabbed some of my wedding business besties (besties as in best in the biz DUH!) and we created the most amazing styled shoot on Belle Isle in Detroit.

I knew right off the bat that Jen House Design had to be involved. If you're not familiar with their work you need to stop reading this right now (yes, I'm serious!) and head over to their website or instagram and just bask in the floral goodness! You'll thank me later! I gave them a pretty vague idea of what I had in mind (wildflowers for one bouquet, and big leafy greens for the other) and they as ALWAYS blew it out of the water! The bouquets and boutineres they created were simply STUNNING. Like....they knocked it out of the park, scream, happy dance, happy cry, goodness.

And of course we needed someone to capture all of it! I couldn't think of anyone better than Hannah Metler from Lola Grace Photography . She is just the sweetest person, and did such an amazing job at capturing the day! She is an incredibly talented photographer and I was SO lucky to have her shoot for us!

I love both of the looks that I created for the shoot. Braids are still so popular and a huge request at every single wedding I do so I knew I wanted to have a look with a braid. My model Angela had the most perfect hair for this huge fishtail braid. I called her my "boho" bride and we kept her makeup really light and ethereal. My other model Sagen was my more "glam" bride. I knew I wanted her to rock a really bold lip and she pulled it off so amazingly!! Since we did her makeup more dramatic I wanted to do something more simple with her hair so we just went for a classic curly style. I love both of the looks so much!

Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot! I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Romantic Winter Styled Shoot

I recently had the pleasure of doing hair and makeup for another styled shoot at the most gorgeous farm in all of Michigan (I may be a little biased) at Zingermans Cornman Farms. I did a summer styled shoot there back in July, so I was SUPER excited and jumped at the opportunity to do a winter one.

The photography was done by Melanie Reyes Photography who is based out of Ann Arbor, and let me just say is the sweetest person ever. Her photos are truly STUNNING, and not to mention she took some great ones of me working, and I was SO excited! All of the florals was done by Pot and Box, as well as the amazing tablescapes.

I am in love with both of the looks I created for this styled shoot, but I think my favorite is the look I did on our model Jade. I created a vintage finger waved updo on her, something I've been wanting to do for a while. I also did a smokey eye, and a gorgeous red lip. She looked stunning.

On our other model Kelsey I did something a little more laid back when it came to her hair. I just created some texture and wave with a lot of volume, and a deep side part. For her makeup I did a like gray smoked out lid, with a baby pink lip. It looked amazing on her!!!

Zingermans Cornman Farms Styled Shoot

Back in July Drop Dead Gorgeous had the pleasure of participating in our very first styled shoot! We were able to work with some amazing people and the results were just phenomenal!!!

The shoot was set at Zingermans Cornman Farms, their newest venue in Dexter Michigan. This place is absolutely STUNNING. I want to live in the farmhouse they have there, it is that cute.

Jen House Design did the amazing floral and tablescapes. We did two different looks. One was more light, airy, more etherial. The other was a little darker, and more avant-garde. Both looks and settings were gorgeous and its hard for me to pick an absolute favorite!

And of course Chelsea Brown photography was there to capture the day so beautifully. Her photos are absolutely gorgeous!

The first look we did was a side swept braid with pin curls, and of course an AMAZING flower crown made by Jen House Design. We kept the makeup light and simple using soft pinks, and rose gold tones for eyeshadow, and a soft pink gloss for the lips.

The second look we did some tousled waves with lots of volume. This bride had an amazing veil that I was in love with and we wanted to really play up the look of the vintage veil. For the makeup we did a bronze and gold smokey eye with a berry gloss for the lips.
